Drive-in. If you are using your garage for its original purpose and that is to store your car, you can still make it attractive by changing the exterior look. You can plant flowers around the garage, make sure that the driveway is kept in good shape without cracks. The garage door should also be kept clean and operate without problems. If there are windows in the garage make sure that you keep them clean, inside and out. Make sure that you keep your garage junk free, using shelves and cabinets to keep items in.
The answers you provide for these questions will go a long way in helping you determine which type of garage shelves are best suited for your storage needs. To expand on the examples further, if you have heavy items, you will most likely prefer to use metal shelving units as they tend to be a little more sturdy than their plastic counterparts. This, of course, is not to say that the plastic shelves are weak, but for heavy items it is bet to go with the most industrial strength products you can find, otherwise you might find yourself cleaning up a mess of collapsed boxes later down the line. So, by taking stock in what you want to store, you will be able to make the best choice where your garage shelving needs are concerned.
One of the options that is available for this area of the home comes in the form of garage storage systems. These come in almost every shape and size that you can possibly imagine, from shelving units that are going to line the walls of the garage, down to some rather unique items that will hang bicycles, fishing rods, or other relatively unused items from the ceiling. Once you begin to look at the systems that are available for storage in the garage, you will likely be surprised with everything that is available to you.
One other thing that you can do which will make a difference in the garage is to finally sort through the items and get rid of anything that you are not using. The choice of whether to throw those items away or sell them through a yard sale (or online) is going to be up to you. You might be surprised with how many of those items you can remove from the area and how much of a difference it is going to make in the usable floor space in the garage. Once you have made these changes, the only decision that you are going to need to make is if you are going to park a car in the garage or use it for another purpose.
Something else that is used in almost every garage is a pegboard. This is a unique storage item that can help to keep many items available and within arms reach. Of course, there are a variety of pegboard hooks that are available which will help to make this become even more of a reality. For example, if you are trying to hang some tools so that you are able to get to them easily, you are obviously going to use different hooks for screwdrivers than you would for a larger item, such as an electric drill. The same is also true if you are hanging supplies that you regularly use. Choosing the right hook will make it easy for you to access these items when they are needed. With a little bit of advance preparation and the right storage systems, you would be surprised with how much extra room you will have in the garage. It will allow you to use that area of the home more efficiently and in ways that you may not have considered before the renovation took place.
Garages have become a catch-all for extra items. Boxes of holiday decorations and seasonal equipment you are not ready to part with may crowd the area. If you plan to use the area as a workshop for your hobbies, tools and supplies can quickly clutter the space. Custom garage cabinets can help you regain some order in your workspace.
Parking Guide: It’s not uncommon to find an assortment of parking scratches and bruises in residential garages. One of the most popular remedies is the old tennis ball on a string hanging from the ceiling trick. This is a time tested remedy that works, but there are also modern solutions as well. Enter laser and proximity parking guides. Laser guides typically attach to the ceiling on or near the garage door opener. When the door is opened, the laser is activated and lights up a beam. All you have to do is line up the beam to a particular spot on your dashboard when your vehicle is already parked. Then, each time you pull in, let the preset beam show you where to stop. You can get just a single laser or a dual-laser depending on the needs of your garage. Proximity sensors, unlike lasers, mount on the wall you approach when you park in your garage. With these, you simply preset the distance between your bumper and the sensor. Then, as you approach, the sensor will tell you when to stop. Some models even act like a stoplight, with a yellow caution lamp, followed by a red stop lamp.
